Move in Harmony. Live in Alignment.

An Alexander Technique training community for embodied learning and lifelong practice.

Study and Train with Harmonia Alexander Collective

Harmonia Alexander Collective is a regional Alexander Technique training community rooted in both local access and broader connection.

My practice — Sound Body in Boulder, CO — is currently partnered with Darci Balkcom’s studio in Albuquerque, NM to offer certificate programs that are grounded, rigorous, and relational. Together we are cultivating a living community of study — rooted in the Contemporary Alexander lineage while honoring the traditions and evolution of the Alexander Work, with thoughtful exploration of biomechanics and the embodied arts.

Harmonia Alexander Collective exists not only as a training pathway, but as a place to belong.

Why “Harmonia”?

Harmonia reflects the essence of this work.

The Alexander Technique is not about fixing what is broken — it is about restoring coordination, reducing unnecessary strain, and rediscovering the inherent intelligence of the human design.

Harmony is not forced balance.
It is conscious integration.

At Harmonia, we explore how the way you use yourself influences your movement, your thinking, your artistry, your teaching — your life.

What Can I Study?

Harmonia currently offers two certificate pathways:

1. Personal & Professional Enrichment Certification

Phase One: The Art of Being

Framed as a year-long, 400-hour certificate program, The Art of Being offers a structured path of continued education.

This phase culminates in a certificate of completion and stands alone as a meaningful and transformative course of study.

Participants will:

  • Study and apply core Alexander principles in real-time movement and daily activity

  • Refine awareness of tension patterns and learn practical tools for reducing unnecessary effort

  • Cultivate greater coordination, balance, and responsiveness

  • Integrate the work into artistic, educational, therapeutic, or professional settings

  • Establish a strong foundation for continued study or teacher training

2. Alexander Technique Teacher Training Certification

A Three-Phase Pathway culminating in approximately 1600 hours of study

For those called to teach this work, the full training unfolds through three progressive phases:

  • The Art of Being (Year 1)

  • The Art of Deepening (Years 2–3)

  • The Art of Teaching (Year 4)

Together, these phases weave perception, hands-on skill, biomechanics, personal use, language, ethics, embodiment, presence, and pedagogy into a comprehensive teacher training process leading toward certification as an Alexander Technique teacher.

A Collective, Not Just a Program

Training may have phases — but practice is lifelong.

Harmonia is a collective because we value ongoing refinement, dialogue, and connection beyond certification. Students remain part of a living body of practitioners dedicated to embodied clarity and artistic integrity.

Who This Is For

  • Artists and musicians

  • Educators and therapists

  • Movement practitioners

  • Professionals seeking greater coordination and presence

You do not need prior experience to begin.
A willingness to explore and curious mind are our minimum starting requirements.

Is This a Good Fit for Me?

Training in the Alexander Work is a meaningful commitment — of time, attention, and resources.

Before enrolling in Harmonia’s certificate programs, we invite prospective students to engage in a period of exploration to determine whether the work and the structure of the program feel aligned.

This typically includes:

  • Participating in private lessons

  • Observing or attending introductory training sessions when available

  • Reflecting on the financial investment and time commitment required

  • Considering whether the pace and nature of the work resonate with your way of learning and being

The Alexander Work unfolds gradually and requires curiosity, patience, and consistency. It is most supportive for those who are ready to engage in sustained study rather than quick results.

Private lessons and trial hours may be applied toward the first year certificate requirements. Specific details will be discussed during the application process.

We value thoughtful enrollment. The goal is to cultivate a cohesive learning environment where each participant is genuinely ready for the depth of study involved.
