What Is Sound Body?

Sound Body is my personal teaching studio — a space for private lessons and classes rooted in the Alexander Work.

I think of “Sound Body” as an invitation to experience your whole self in motion. Breath rises and falls, perception shifts and expands. Even stillness carries movement. Learning to sense this ongoing process can change how we move — and how we experience ourselves from the inside out.

As a musician, I had a striking moment where I experienced the sense that my whole body was participating in sound — not just my voice, but my structure, breath, attention, and whole being. This moment reshaped how I understand coordination and expression.

The word “Sound” also suggests integrity — a way of being organized from within. It points toward a deeper soundness of self that remains available, even as we move through strain, recovery, and change.

My own path to this work was shaped by anxiety, illness, and a search for relief that gradually became an inquiry into awareness — not only mechanical, but relational and heart-centered.

This practice is grounded in coordination and clarity, and guided by the understanding that how we inhabit ourselves influences how we meet the world.

When we move with greater awareness and integrity, that quality tends to extend into our relationships, our work, and our communities.

This work is both deeply practical and subtly profound. The effects can be tangible, powerful, and meaningful. The intention is simple: to cultivate coherence within, and contribute to greater ease beyond ourselves.
