Sound Body Lesson Guidelines & Policies

The Alexander Work is an educational approach to movement and coordination. It is non-manipulative and collaborative in nature.

Touch & Consent

In in-person lessons, I use gentle hands-on guidance to support awareness and coordination.

You are always invited to communicate your comfort level around touch. Consent and clear communication are essential to this work, and you may adjust or withdraw consent at any time.

Online Lessons

Online sessions include verbal guidance, structured prompts for movement and sensory exploration, and occasionally the use of simple household props.

What to Wear

Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement.

Scope of Practice

The Alexander Technique is an educational process. While lessons may support changes in tension, coordination, and overall well-being, I do not diagnose, prescribe, or treat medical conditions. Please consult a licensed healthcare provider for medical concerns.

Shared Responsibility

This work is collaborative. I encourage students to take an active role in their learning. Each lesson is an opportunity to explore new options and create conditions for meaningful change.

Professional Affiliation

I am a certified teaching member of Alexander Technique International (ATI). The ATI Code of Ethics outlines professional standards and responsibilities within the teacher–student relationship and is available for reference at any time.

Illness Policy

If you are feeling unwell, please reschedule your lesson. I will do the same if I become ill. Because we work in close proximity, I take illness prevention seriously.

Cancellation Policy

If you are unable to attend your scheduled lesson, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice.

Cancellations may be made by call, text, or email no later than the evening prior to your scheduled lesson time.

Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice — or missed without communication — will be charged in full.

In the case of illness or emergency on the day of your lesson, we can reschedule and the cancellation fee will be waived. Please communicate as soon as possible before our scheduled time.

If I need to cancel due to illness or emergency, your lesson will be rescheduled at your convenience.

Payment Policy

Payment is due on the day of your scheduled lesson.

After your initial lesson, you may choose to purchase a lesson package.

All single lessons and lesson packages are non-refundable.

Lessons and packages must be used within six months of the purchase date. You will receive a reminder before any remaining lessons expire. Lessons scheduled beyond the six-month timeframe will require renewal of payment.

Participation & Liability

All new students complete a Participation Form acknowledging personal responsibility for their participation and agreeing not to hold Sound Body or associated teaching spaces liable for injury or discomfort.

Thank you for reading and honoring these guidelines.
It is a privilege to work together.
